Northern Lights

Patterns fall across the sky
Soft colors smear the nights
Hues of heavenly twilight drip
To create the Northern Lights

Purple lies down quietly
A curtain o’er red Mars
Casting shadows ‘cross the land
Veiling the frosty stars

Shades of green swim in the mix
Ruffling the fallen curtain
Fading in and out of night
Its time is short for certain

In a land where all is cold
And warmth is only found above
These hues of light add color
To a world devoid of love

Patterns fall across the sky
Soft colors smear the night
Hues of heavenly twilight drip
To create the Northern Lights
