Railroads

To call myself a photographer might be laughable to you with your Nikon SLR as I pull out my iPhone 4 and snap a few pictures likeaboss! off the shores of Lake Superior. I pull my Charlotte Russe sweater more tightly around me to ward off the cold, grateful that few people are out and about. On warm summer days these paths are crowded, but now the snow that covered Alberta is already beginning to cool the Great Lakes and it’s only September. My northern home seems doomed for another frigid winter.

I’m no expert in photography. I’ve never owned a fancy camera. I’ve never taken a photography class. But I love taking pictures and sharing my world with you just the same! Add a little exposure, a touch of shadow and light, a hint of cross process and dusk, and voilà! A place that seemed so drab when captured with a camera phone sparkles to life a bit more, and in it I see perfection itself.
